The Portugal Captain, Christiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he has played his last World Cup match.
This is after Portugal’s World Cup campaign came to a heartbreaking close after a 1-0 defeat to Spain in the Round of 16.
The winning goal came when substitute Mikel Merino found the net in the 91st minute at Dallas Stadium, leaving Portugal with no time to respond.
After the game, Ronaldo addressed the media and said, “I’m sad to be leaving the World Cup like this.”
“I gave it my all. I did my best. It was my last World Cup, yes, but I’ll now have time to reflect and be with my family. I won’t be making any rash decisions.
Ronaldo became the first player ever to score in six different Fifa World Cup editions, adding yet another record to a career already packed with milestones.
