The Proteas Women’s T20 World Cup ended in disappointment after a semi-final defeat to England at The Oval in London on Thursday, 2 July.
South Africa faced the 2009 champions at The Oval, where captain Laura Wolvaardt won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Returning from injury, England captain Natalie Sciver-Brunt starred with a blistering 75 off 47 balls, including 11 fours.
Heather Knight added 58 to help the co-hosts post 169.
England’s disciplined attack, led by Lauren Bell with 2/28 and Dean with 2/31, kept South Africa under pressure and ensured the hosts booked their place in the final.
Proteas Captain, Laura Wolvaardt said South Africa had been outplayed.
“I’m very disappointed. It was just not meant to be for us today,” Wolvaardt said after the match.
“We were outplayed by a really good England side.”
“On reflection, our batting never fired,” Wolvaardt said.
